"River's Edge"   Watercolour Monotype

What is a Monotype?

Also known as the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques, a monoprint is essentially a ‘printed painting’.

Each work has a unique translucency and quality of light very different from a painting on paper.

Watercolour paint, crayon, and other media are applied on a plexiglass plate, allowed to dry then pressed onto damp paper. Usually only one print is created from a plate - editioning is not possible.

The beauty of this media is in its spontaneity and its combination of printmaking, painting and drawing.
